Pool robots have become one of the most useful tools for a pool owner. It save hours of manual brushing and vacuuming on a weekly basis over the course of a season.

The Dolphin Nautilus CC plus is a mid-range robotic pool cleaner that offers reliable, hands-off cleaning for inground pools. And, for some reason, even though it isn’t advertised this way, it does clean the waterline!

Note: We tested the CC Plus that includes Wi-Fi connection to its app.

Dolphin CC Plus Overview

The Dolphin CC Plus is made by Maytronics, one of the more well-known manufacturers of pool robots.

It is described as a “The Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is a “plug-and-play robotic pool cleaner engineered for effortless maintenance…offering powerful dual-brush scrubbing on both floors and walls, top-load fine filtration, and energy‑efficient navigation.”

It can clean up to 50 ft in length and can clean any shape and surface for both inground and above-ground pools.

Pricing and Warranty Information

As of this review (June 2025), the CC Plus with Wi-Fi is $799. Keep in mind, the Wi-Fi version seemed to have replaced the original CC Plus as they are almost impossible to buy new, both online and in stores.

There are a few accessories you can purchase as well to make storage and moving it around a bit easier. In particular, you can buy a walking caddy and cover to protect it from the sun and rain.

The caddy+robot combo is $898, while the caddy+cover+robot bundle is $918.

The CC Plus also comes with a 2.5 year warranty, which is pretty standard for a mid-ranged cleaner.

Unboxing and Setup

Out of the box, the cleaner comes nearly ready to go. I went ahead and got the robot bundle with the cover and caddy.

Besides the cleaner itself and the swivel cable it is attached to, the CC Plus includes two fine cartridge filters, a power supply unit, and the user manual.

I would highly recommend the caddy to make it easier to handle. While it isn’t exactly heavy, it is much easier to wrap the cable cord around and roll it around to the shed or wherever you will store it.

The plug-in power supply has a relatively short cord, about 7 feet. You’ll most likely need a power outlet close to your pool. If you’re like me and don’t have an outlet that close, you can also use an extension cord.

While it isn’t recommended by Maytronics (it might even void the warranty), but just be smart and keep the extension cord out of the water and rain if possible. Consider using a 12-gauge or higher cord.

Overall, the setup was super simple as there isn’t really much to do. I connected the cable to the power supply, dropped the unit into the deep end, and hit start. That’s it.

Cleaning Performance: Floor, Walls…AND WATERLINE!

There are a large swath of reviews that are claiming the CC Plus does not clean your pool’s waterline. I am sure this is most likely a Maytronics error because it isn’t marketed as such.

However, every clean that I have done with it is definitely getting to the waterline and scrubbing it down. Not only that, hits it on a horizontal path for a good 10-20 feet!

And I must admit, it did initially give me pause because almost every other mid-range cleaner at this price point includes cleaning of the waterline so it was stunning to me why the CC Plus wouldn’t.

With that said, the floor and wall scrubbing is really good. The CC Plus has a cleaning cycle time of 2 hours, which was more than enough time to clean my 20x40ft inground pool.

You can also schedule it to clean on a weekly basis. There are options for every day, every other day, or every three days.

It climbs the walls well and, as mentioned above, hits the waterline before reversing.

Overall, I am impressed with the navigation. Most pool cleaners I have tested take a bit of time to get used to the pool. The CC Plus pretty much had the pool under control on the first clean.

Lastly, like most mid-range robots, the CC Plus struggles with steps and tanning ledges. It might get one or two steps but usually just brushes up against them and turns around.

If your pool has large Baja shelves or intricate corners, expect to supplement with a manual brushing or a vacuum like the Pool Blaster Max Li. I still use mine for my steps every few weeks.

Filter and Debris Handling

While I typically prefer the robots that have a bin, the top-load filter cartridges are still pretty good. They’re easy to access and fairly simple to rinse out with a hose.

In terms of the filters themselves, it only includes the standard fine filter and doesn’t include the newer NanoFilters as found on other models. That said, I haven’t really had an issue if missing much dirt and debris.

I’ve run it quite a few times with large leaves, sticks, and debris on the floor and it was able to leave the pool floor very clean.

The unit doesn’t lose suction as the filter fills, which is something I’ve noticed on cheaper models. Even when full of leaves and crud, it seems to power through without issue.

Durability and Seasonal Storage

I ran the Nautilus CC Plus for 6 months straight, storing it in a shaded pool shed between uses. The cover has help up quite nicely and there is little wear and tear on the caddy from wheeling back and forth. But otherwise, I feel like those are very wise investments.

The unit itself held up fine over a swim season. I’ve had no leaks, no pump failures, or no obvious decline in performance. More importantly, I personally never had cable entanglements or other cable issues in general.

At the end of the season, I hosed it down, cleaned the filters, and stored it in the garage. It started right back up in the spring without issue.

Using the App with the CC Plus

The app connectivity is a nice addition for the more automated folks.

Using the app with the CC Plus allows you to set schedules and turn your robot ON/OFF. I don’t necessarily find myself using it too much as has pretty basic controls.

For example, it doesn’t let you manually control the unit like the more higher-end cleaners.

Final Verdict

The Dolphin Nautilus CC Plus is a good mid-tier robotic cleaner. It’s unfortunate that the marketing is a huge miss regarding waterline cleaning.

I think it’s a fine robot, and one of the better ones it its price range. I would definitely recommend the CC Plus to any pool owner looking to make their pool cleaning a little easier.
